The four pack of nicely muted pastel colored mugs are packaged in individual boxes in larger box to prevent any damage and they arrived in perfect condition. #freeforreview

#PatchUpKit Medical First Aid Kit Review

This is the perfect, lightweight (under 2 lbs), fully stocked first aid kit. I would call it a “basic” first aid kit - but it comes with 270 pieces of everything from antiseptic wipes and butterfly bandages, sterile gauze bandages to an emergency blanket and CPR resuscitation mask.

The #PatchUpKit bag itself is water resistant and sturdy, with a quality zipper and even a little extra space to add additional items (not that I can think of any first aid pieces that could possibly be missing - maybe aspirin/epipen etc). Once you unzip the bag, individual pockets unfold so that anything you need in an emergency is easily accessible - and all the other items clean and sterile.

If you’re looking for a first aid kit for a bug out bag - you can’t go wrong with this one.
There is no way that I could purchase every item in this kit, plus a bag, for the price listed on Amazon Prime of around $50. The hospital grade items range from ordinary accidents to serious medical emergencies requiring a tourniquet and other life saving first aid items.

This med kit is surprisingly compact for how many items it contains. It fits easily in a glove box or center console to keep in the car - and will also fit in a medium-large purse or backpack. Great for a family first aid kit, camping trips, or to have on hand for any sports or day hikes. It’s worth it to have everything you would need on hand for simple scratches to broken bones.

*I received this product free or heavily discounted in exchange for my 100% honest and unbiased review.

Brooklyn Botany Beard Care Review

I love Brooklyn Botany essential oils, and the Beard Balm is just as impressive. Whether your man is a hipster, Viking, or real lumberjack - there's one thing we all know about men and their beards: if nothing else, they WILL primp their beards (Viking Lumberjack or not)! Argan, jojoba and sweet orange oil help tame their manes while providing rich nutrients to deeply moisturize and promote hair strength. This is a small container of beard balm, but at 2 oz, a little will go a long way - even if they end up standing in front of the mirror working on the perfect twist to their handlebar mustaches or mastering the partially braided Ragnar look. It smells great, your furry faced man will love it, and it's a great, thoughtful gift for any man with any kind of facial hair. #brooklynbetter #mymansalumberjacknotahipster #freeforreview

Moody Zook Natural Tooth Powder Review

Ever brushed your teeth with baking soda? Well, this powder is somewhat similar - except SO MUCH better! With all natural ingredients like activated charcoal and ground coconut shell (I know, sounds weird, but hear me out) - you don't have to worry about all the chemicals in standard toothpaste from flouride to nasty bleaching agents. The sage gives your mouth a refreshing clean flavor while naturally whitening teeth and preventing tooth decay, gingivitis, and bad breath. Plenty of research studies have shown that too much flouride is actually bad for your long term health, yet mainstream brands keep pushing it in almost ever tube of toothpaste you can find in a store. Coffee, tea, nicotine, and other stains are easily removed using this 100% natural substitute - and it tastes better too! No chemically after taste like your mouth has just been industrially cleaned, while still getting the job done by removing stains along with bacteria from the organic sage powder. This is recommended for use 2-3 times per week to maintain healthy tooth enamel. #getmoody with Moody Zook's Sage Whitening Tooth Powder. #PhytopiaUSA #pregnancy #stretchmark removal

Reveiwing another #PhytopiaSynergy #NaturalRemedy oil blend ~ chock-full of healing natural ingredients like Neroli, Mandarin Oil, and Cocoa Butter. All these and more components contain phytonutrients (plant nutrients) that can help reduce the appearance of scars and stretchmarks. It smells wonderful and is nourishing and hydrating to skin with or without trying to get rid of unwanted skin lines or "blemishes." In this case, I would have to say that prevention is worth a pound of cure - using during pregnancy, or any time stretchmarks BEGIN to appear on your body would be the best time to use this oil blend. Older scar tissue would likely be less able to heal, however not impossible. The key is in keeping your skin hydrated, moisturized and nourished with these oils while your belly or body is stretching out and just started to show the appearance of stretchmarks. This would also be a good blend to use for tweens/teens experiencing rapid growth spurts, when the appearance of stretchmarks can also occur to help reduce the appearance and even skin tone. Wonderful massage oil!

Stiff Shoulders? Check out this Self Massage Tool

I have fibro and constant muscle tightness and pain in between my shoulder blades and in my neck. I’m also the kind of person who loves DEEP TISSUE #Massage & #Accupressure to where it “hurts so good!” I must admit, as a trained massage therapist, that I was both intrigued but also a little skeptical about this #ChiroDoc Self-Massage Tool. (It does look a little intimidating, but I assure you it’s really not.) It doesn’t take long to figure out the most comfortable position to hold the self-massager and how much pressure to apply. My poor husband can now a break from my constant nagging about getting the knots worked out of my shoulders. Plus, since I can’t afford as much acupressure or massages as I would like - this gadget will be seriously coming in handy for doing trigger point myofascial/deep tissue work on myself whenever my neck and upper back are driving me bonkers. Couldn’t be happier with how well this actually works! *I received this product free or heavily discounted in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. http://www.amztk.com/massage-tool

#PhytopiaUSA Natural Pain Relief Review

Phytopia’s natural, *organic* blend of oils and essential oils definitely help reduce pain and inflammation in sore muscles and joints - especially when used over time. While the menthol is still an active ingredient that brings some immediate relief, all of the other organic oils soak into the soft tissue with the help of jojoba and rosehip oil.

I’ve been trying to lose some weight and be more active, so taking long fast walks at least a couple miles a day (after not exercising for far too long) - started taking a toll on the front of my shin muscles. No matter how much I stretched, the weight and new activity was very painful on my anterior tibialis muscle to the point I had to ease back out of fear I’d end up with shin splints (not good). I tried OTC stuff like “icy hot” for instant relief, and also soaked in hot epsom salt to try to keep my leg muscles loosened up.

All those things helped a little, but after 4 days of massaging a little of the Phytopia PainAway oil into my shin and calf muscles before bed, I experienced a noticeable decrease in pain when walking. I also have recurring tendon issues in my wrist, so the next time that flares up I will definitely be applying this natural oil blend. SO much better than chemical alternatives, and I love that close to 100% of the ingredients are organic! The beautiful packaging and printed drawstring bag that it comes in would make a lovely gift as well.
I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review, and sorely needed it!

Kicking Butts with The Quit Company

Here's a dirty little secret I'm beyond ashamed of -

I’ve been an on and off smoker for almost 2 decades. I don’t want to be a smoker, but due to various health issues and medications, I felt like I couldn’t function without at least a little nicotine in my system. Knowing full well that smoking is the absolute worst thing I can be doing for my body, I just wasn’t able to kick the nasty habit once and for all. I finally decided to set THE DATE and quit for good. The Quit Company has created an amazing natural, holistic nutrition system and support plan for people to stop smoking - and make the withdrawals more manageable.

Knowing a lot about herbal remedies and nutritional supplements in general made me extremely impressed by the actual ingredients in the Quit Support & Quit Nutrition capsules - and especially the Quit Tea (which tastes great by the way, even without honey). There are several “adaptogen” herbs in these formulas - Holy Basil, Licorice, Eleuthero - they’ve been used for centuries and known to support adrenal function: aka they help your body combat physical stressors, reduce anxiety and fight fatigue for long term energy. (Withdrawal is a pretty big stressor, so I was happy to see all these herbs and can tell that they are helping.) Skullcap and Valerian are both known to have a mild sedative effect that can help ease anxiety, and Oatstraw is a great herb that can help support and soothe nerves/ease withdrawal symptoms. Mullein is known to have really strong healing effects for the lungs and respiratory system.

Bottom line, the herbal formulas are made up of natural ingredients that make it so much easier to quit and not smoke again. Our bodies can start healing within hours of our last cigarette - the key is making sure that it’s the last one. The whole concept of taking the time for SELF-CARE by making and sipping a mug of tea when I have a craving instead of lighting up is great. Other smokers probably agree that they associate smoking with relaxation or taking a break (I worked in the restaurant industry way too long!).

The Quit Tea really has helped replace my smoking habit with a healthy habit and daily routine. The Quit Picks are perfect for my oral fixation issues - I’ve tried some different flavored ones in the past, but these cinnamon flavored toothpicks (basically) taste great and make your mouth feel clean and fresh. Mentally, it’s also another deterrent against nasty smoky mouth/breath. And instead of snacking all day, I don’t load up on extra calories when chewing and sucking on a Quit Pick. There are at least 7 different amino acids in the Quit Support capsules plus all the other necessary daily vitamins and nutrients that have already made me feel more energetic and have less cravings than I’ve had when trying to quit in the past. I’m drinking lots of water, as advised.

Quit Company obviously knows what they’re doing - if you are ready to take the final step to quit for good this kit will make it so much easier to stay focused and determined. I’m 4 days cigarette free and my cravings are still there, but not nearly as bad as the first week of withdrawals in the past. YEAH!!! In it to win it ~ proud to be a quitter :D :D :D

Winter is Coming....

In the midst of winter prep planning, I have a new hay barn (bales to fill it), extra feed, 3 cords of wood to get, chop and stack, plus lots of canning left to do... And most of the time around this year the human needs of Two Hawks Homestead take the back burner. Finally got my husband a warm fleece balaclava for our 3rd mountain winter on the farm! It's super soft material and great quality stitching, along with enough "give" to the fleece fabric that keeps it snug without stretching it out once taken off.

Does *not* fog up glasses and has great mesh design around the mouth. One of the best parts is that it's long enough around the neck to comfortably tuck inside winter jackets. The fleece is windproof and water proof, can be worn with or without the attached face mask. Can't beat the price either, pretty sure this balaclava has been in my Amazon cart several times along with others, I just couldn't decide which one to get.

I'm going to have to order some for myself and the kiddos to avoid the hat, scarves, earmuff, hoodie ensemble disasters when having to go out to feed livestock and break up frozen water troughs all winter. Keeping everyone warm and dry is at the top of the priority list, and this balaclava fits the bill. Definitely see it getting a lot of use and holding up really well! I'm just sorry I waited this long to get invest in some for the whole family!

Plantain ~ One of our MANY Favorite Medicinal "Weeds"

Have I mentioned that I *LOVE* herbs? Well, we all do actually... Kids got out of weeding the garden beds after the youngest found an underground bee colony & got nailed on thumb and arm 🐝🐝🐝 Nothing like a crushed plantain & homemade lavender soothing body butter poultice 🌿 fixed her right up!

If you're ever outside & get stung or bitten, look for the closest piece of plantain, chew it up & apply directly to the skin to start drawing out & reducing inflammation. I was able to pick some just off our porch in the yard & grind it with a mortar & pestle, with a couple drops of lavender essential oil while she had ice on it. Mixed it up with my homemade "Two Hawks Soothing Body Butter" (which we usually just put directly on any bug bits, but she was swelling up!). So that added comfrey oil and shea butter to the poultice & worked beautifully with a little white gauze to hold in place! 🌞
